On the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500, gM recalled certain 2026 Sierra 1500 trucks built with four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive because a component was omitted from the drivetrain transfer case during assembly. The omission can allow the front and/or rear wheels to lock up suddenly, with no warning to the driver — a loss-of-control event at any speed. NHTSA campaign 26V289000 (GM internal number N262557620) was filed May 7, 2026 and carries a DO NOT DRIVE advisory, which GM issues only for the most severe defects.
